How to read the table

Gumroad's $0.50 hurts cheap products

On a $5 file, 10% + $0.50 is $1.00 — 20% before card processing. Payhip's flat 5% is usually cheaper at every price point unless you rely on Gumroad Discover for discovery.

Paid plans pay off surprisingly early

Ko-fi Gold at $12/month removes the 5% fee, so it breaks even at roughly $240 of monthly shop sales. Payhip Plus ($29 for 2% instead of 5%) breaks even near $970/month, and Pro ($99 for 0%) near $1,980. The calculator above shows the exact points for your price.

Discovery vs cost

Gumroad Discover can put your product in front of buyers who were not looking for you, but 30% is a large share. Payhip and Ko-fi expect you to bring your own audience; in exchange they keep far more of each sale.
